The College of Education and Integrative Studies at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona was selected by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing as an Early Adopter of the new Standards of Quality and Effectiveness for Professional Teacher Preparation Programs (SB 2042). As an Early Adopter, the Department of Education redesigned their existing program based upon an intensive self-study effort as part of the Spring 2002 CCTC accreditation review. Even before undertaking the self-study required for this review, it had become evident to faculty that a redesign of the program was a necessary step toward providing the visionary leadership required to meet the growing challenges in teacher education.
