Cal Poly Pomona offers two different Education Specialist (ES) Credentials:

• Mild/Moderate Disabilities (M/M) – work with students with learning disabilities, autism, emotional and behavior disorders, mild-moderate intellectual impairments.
• Moderate/Severe Disabilities (M/S) – work with students with moderate-severe intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, autism, emotional and behavior disorders.
• California has a 2-level credential structure.  All ES candidates must first get a Level I and then get a Level II.

• Preliminary Level I Credential – emphasizes core knowledge and skills needed by all special educators
• Professional Clear Level II Credential – fosters advanced skills and knowledge.  Must be completed within 5 years of the date of issuance of the Level I credential.
