Graduate & Pedagogical Studies GPS

The College of Education and Integrative Studies is just beginning to develop its interdisciplinary graduate program which includes the intra-college departments and units. The College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) has 4 units, one of which is the Department of Education. The Department of Education Master of Arts in Education has been active since 1973, having graduated over 4000 students. The Graduate Program is currently the third largest in the university with over 200 active graduate students.

The program for the Master of Arts in Education is committed to ensuring that all individuals regardless of ethnicity, gender, or other personal characteristics are afforded the opportunity to achieve their full potential as scholars and professionals. Our diverse enrollment has students from India, China, Taiwan, Korea, and a host of other countries. Enrollment of ethnic minorities, including African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Latino-Americans/Hispanics and Native-Americans, make up a large percentage of the post baccalaureate student population.

CEIS will continue to be a leader in promoting equal opportunity for all students and the Department of Education will continue to serve as a catalyst for quality education for the surrounding school districts.

Mission: The mission of the Department of Education is to promote the highest quality of graduate education and to ensure that all graduate students regardless of ethnicity, gender, or other personal characteristics are afforded the opportunity to achieve their full potential as future scholars and professionals. The Department's graduate programs are interwoven with the "learning by doing strategies" exemplified by I-Poly High School.
